About the Artist
Kasey Potzler creates hand bound blank journals using acid free handmade papers from
around the world, decorative papers, and leather. She primarily uses two methods. The
first uses decorative stitching where inside page sections are sewn directly through the
spine. This creates a very sturdy book. The second method uses a Coptic stitch to hold
the book together, instead of a spine board. Both types of books lay flat when opened,
which makes the books very easy to use for writing or drawing. She also creates
photograph albums, accordion books, and custom orders.

Kasey got her start in book arts when an Artist in Residence came to her 5th grade
classroom in Mount Vernon to do bookbinding, From that point on she's been hooked
on making books! She's enjoyed teaching book arts to students in her classrooms for
the last 12 years. Kasey has taken classes from fine book artists in Washington and
Minnesota. Currently she is teaching book arts classes for students in Whatcom and
Skagit counties.
